Our Process
From your first call to your final inspection — here's exactly what working with Impact Shield looks like, start to finish.
No surprises. No runaround. Just a clear process — handled for you.
One of the biggest sources of stress in any home improvement project is not knowing what comes next.
Who's responsible for what? When does the permit get pulled? How long until the windows actually arrive? What happens on installation day?

We've run this process thousands of times. We know where the questions come from, and we've built our workflow to answer them before you have to ask.
From the moment you reach out to the day we walk through the finished project with you, our team manages every step — permits, engineering, HOA coordination, scheduling, inspection — so you don't have to.
Here's exactly what that looks like:
The 8 Steps
You Reach Out
You contact us by phone, form, or email to request a visit. We schedule a time that works for you — no commitment, no pressure. This first step takes about five minutes on your end.
We Come to You
One of our product experts will visit you to discuss your needs and wants. We will present a product solution designed for your specific project and explain the process from A to Z in detail. This isn't a sales pitch. It's a conversation. We want you to leave this meeting with a clear picture of what the project involves and full confidence in the recommendation we're making.
You Get a Quote — Same Day
Our product expert provides your quote on-site, the same day as the consultation. No waiting a week for a number. If you're ready to move forward, you can approve and secure the project right then. If you need time to think, that's completely fine — the quote is yours to review at your own pace.
We Handle All the Paperwork
This is where most of the behind-the-scenes work happens — and where most companies leave homeowners to figure things out on their own. We don't. We prepare and submit your full permit application, engineering documents, and HOA approval package. You don't deal with the building department or the HOA board. We handle all of it.
Supervisor-Level Precision Before We Order
A supervisor, not a salesperson, returns to take final dimensions and inspect your openings for any conditions that could affect the installation before the order is placed. This is a critical step that most companies skip or assign to the wrong person.
We Place the Order & Set Your Installation Date
We place the order directly with the manufacturer and schedule your installation date. Most products take 4 to 8 weeks. We keep you updated throughout so you always know where things stand.
Our Team Installs — You Relax
Our crew protects your work areas, installs your products using our full sealing process, cleans up after themselves, and leaves your home the way they found it — minus the old windows.
City Inspection & Project Completion
We schedule and attend the city inspection on your behalf. Once it passes, we do a final walkthrough with you to confirm everything operates correctly and meets your expectations.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Process
How long does the whole process take from start to finish?
The typical timeline from signed quote to completed installation is 10 to 14 weeks. The largest variable is product manufacturing time, which ranges from 4 to 8 weeks depending on the brand, product line, and current demand. Permitting timelines also vary by jurisdiction — some cities process faster than others. We manage all of it and keep you updated throughout.
Do I need to be home during the installation?
We ask that someone be home or available on installation day, but you don't need to take the full day off work. Our crew will check in with you at the start, work independently throughout the day, and connect with you again at the end for a walkthrough. For multi-day projects, the same applies each day.
What do I need to do to prepare for installation day?
Very little. We recommend clearing the area around each opening — moving furniture, curtains, blinds, and any fragile items a few feet back from the windows and doors being replaced. Our crew handles everything else, including protecting floors and work surfaces.
What happens if there's a problem after installation?
We stand behind our work. If something isn't right after installation — operationally or cosmetically — contact us and we'll come back to address it. Our in-house team completed the installation and our in-house team handles any follow-up. There's no passing the buck to a subcontractor or manufacturer.
What about the city inspection — do I need to be there?
You do not need to attend the city inspection. We schedule it, our team is present for it, and we handle any items the inspector flags. We notify you once the inspection has passed and the certificate of completion has been issued.
